According to the 2021 State of DevOps Report, 80% of organizations are failing to scale DevOps adoption, and that number hasn’t changed for 4 years. We took time out to talk to Cycloid founder Benjamin Brial about the path of DevOps and why it’s not always as smooth a journey as it could be.

The Inside Story: Terraform Module Handling

The Inside Story: Roles & Policies
Nikola, a front end developer here at Cycloid, tells us what led to our recent shake up of Roles & Policies, why what we had could be improved, and how we went about improving it.
Dynamically adding and removing dedicated Concourse workers
Here at Cycloid, we use open-source pipeline engine Concourse in Kubernetes. Over time, we noticed a problem – every time we wanted to add a new worker (in Concourse, the worker is the entity responsible for executing the scheduler’s operations), the process seemed long and inefficient. We decided to see if we could improve it by contributing to Concourse.
Cycloid and the open source community
Today, as part of our birthday series, we’re taking a look at Cycloid’s relationship with open source software and the greater open source community. It’s something really important to us and we’d like share some thoughts.
The Cycloid European harmonization project – a long name for a cool concept
One of the things you accept when you’re a freelancer is that, along with the freedom and ability to work from a beach in Bali (I mean, it would really upset my husband, but I could), you sometimes get the short end of the stick when it comes to benefits and non-monetary compensation.
Remote working? We’re old hands at Cycloid
This article has been updated for January 2022
Can you remember the time 2 years ago when you would wake up, get ready for your day, pack lunch and drive to the office, and all that hours before your start time? (If you can, I’m sorry)
Here at Cycloid we can’t, but that’s not really the pandemic’s fault – we’ve been doing work in our pyjamas… I mean, from home since the start.
TL;DR
Cycloid is and always has been remote-first. With the avalanche of recent remote-working resources out there, we’re not offering any special advice. Instead, we’re telling you about our remote journey and sharing the things we’ve learned along the way.
A teal organization in a DevOps world
Tonight was supposed to be a big night for the Cycloid team. We turn 5 today and, unlike other 5-year-olds, we planned to celebrate in a swanky Paris venue, partying the night away. Like the rest of the world, however, our party plans have been put on hold, and if we celebrate our 5th birthday at all today, it will be by raising a toast from the comfort of our (respective and separate) living rooms.
The Cycloid origin story – people, process, tools
The DevOps triad – people, process, and tools – sounds simple, but it’s infinitely more complicated in the wilds of the enterprise. Founder Benjamin Brial saw the challenges first hand, moving him to create Cycloid. He tells the Cycloid origin story and explains his motivation for a new way of “doing” DevOps.
